Experience

Meet Coach Slava Fattakhov, an award-winning member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and a six-year coach for USA Swimming. Slava’s swimming career began early in his life, and he plans to use his knowledge to aid beginning and advanced swimmers.

LIFE DURING COLLEGE

Slava received a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations, Advertising, and Sports Communication, and a minor in Psychology from the University of Bridgeport in 2014.

During his time as a student-athlete, Slava competed in the NCAA and became the captain of the University of Bridgeport’s men’s swim team. He earned the university’s Swimming Scholarship for outstanding athletic performance and leadership.

Slava was recognized as an NCAA Division II Scholar All-American Honoree in both 2013 and 2014, an award given to swimmers who maintain academic excellence while competing at the national collegiate level. Throughout his collegiate career, he broke multiple NCAA school records and USA Swimming pool records, consistently ranking among the top performers in breaststroke and IM events.

His academic studies in communication and psychology, combined with years of high-level competition, shaped the coaching philosophy he uses today—focusing on technique, discipline, and understanding each swimmer as an individual.

LIFE AFTER COLLEGE

After graduating, Slava continued his journey as both a coach and a professional in the digital and technology field.

Following his collegiate career, Slava transitioned his passion for swimming into coaching swimmers of all ages and skill levels. He continued training, studying technique, and helping athletes improve through structured, individualized programs.

At the same time, Slava built a second professional path in digital strategy and technology, eventually working as a Solutions Architect specializing in web development, e-commerce, and technical problem-solving. His background in communication and psychology helped him excel in leadership, client communication, and project planning.

Today, Slava blends both worlds—coaching swimmers with the precision of a former elite athlete and managing complex digital projects with the structure and discipline learned through years of competition.

AWARDS

A distinguished career spanning Kazakhstan National Championships, international Grand Prix events, NCAA competition, and USA Swimming circuits.

Throughout his international and national swimming career, Slava amassed an extensive list of awards and distinctions for excellence in competitive swimming. He proudly represented Kazakhstan, his native country, at major international competitions, including the Serbia Cup, where he earned a Silver Medal. This achievement reflects his elite ability in one of the most competitive international racing environments.

Slava also won the Kazakhstan National Swimming Championships multiple times and accumulated more than forty national medals and awards. He consistently ranked among the Top-2 breaststroke swimmers in Kazakhstan — a significant accomplishment given the country’s strong Olympic swimming tradition. His repeated national titles highlight his status as one of the nation’s most accomplished breaststrokers during his competitive years.

In addition to his success on the international and national stages, Slava earned numerous NCAA medals and All-American honors during his collegiate career in the United States. He broke multiple NCAA school records and USA Swimming pool records while competing as an NCAA student-athlete. On the USA Swimming Grand Prix circuit, he achieved rankings that placed him ahead of several top national and collegiate swimmers.
