This means mastering when to transition from underwater kicks to your primary stroke during starts and turns. Efficient kickoff timing is where the underwater kick becomes a true race advantage.

If asymmetry persists after 4 to 6 weeks of side-kick drills and tempo trainer work, consider a session with a qualified swim coach. A coach can spot imbalances in your body position or leg timing that drills alone may not reveal. Coaching is optional but valuable if progress stalls.
